How is the storage space for my data calculated?

The storage space of the selected data from the airbackup Client on the airbackup servers equals their file size on your system. Only the latest backed up data volume is used for calculation. Any changes you make to data (if the data volume remains unchanged) are not summed to the required storage space.

Please find three examples below for better explanation.

Example 1: You back up an Exchange database. The database has a file size of 120GB on your system. For that, airbackup calculates a selected storage space of 120GB. When backed up the next time, the database has a file size of 200GB on your system. airbackup calculates an overall storage space of 200GB for both backups. 80GB of data are transferred.

Example 2: You back up a MySQL database with an unchanged file size of 500MB on a daily basis. airbackup calculates an overall storage space of 500MB for the entire period and every backup.

Example 3: You back up a network share with a size of 12GB. Until the next backup, changes are carried out with a volume of 2GB. airbackup has to transfer 2GB of changed data. The changes nevertheless had no effect on the file size of the network share. Therefore airbackup still calculates a selected storage space of only 12GB for both backups.
